Heicoders Academy’s AI100 Python Programming and Data Visualisation course in Singapore aims to equip you with a strong foundation in computing and analytics, which was identified by our Academic Board as a key weakness of many job applicants.
You will complete the course with a capstone project that addresses a real-world data problem in the fintech industry. This project will also serve as a valuable portfolio piece for you to showcase in future job applications.

As a Heicoders student, you will be given access to online learning materials in our e-learning portal.
To get you ready for learning, this essential pre-work will familiarise you with the basics of the key concepts and tools we will be using throughout the course.
Although you will learn these topics remotely before you arrive in class, you won’t be far away from the resources of the Heicoders community. Make use of our Telegram channel to leverage connections with students, alumni, instructors and experts. At the end of your pre-work, you’ll be ready for lessons!
After the course, you can choose to participate in follow-up sessions with your instructor, either in a group and/or individually, included as part of the course fee.
Lesson 1: Python Syntax & Data Structures
- Understand use cases of Artificial Intelligence, and how python programming can be used to develop data applications to support these use cases
- Learn foundational programming syntax in Python, including variables and data structures
- Be introduced to basic techniques in debugging Python code
Lesson 2: Python Collections & Conditions
- Understand how python data structures are used to store & retrieve data
- Learn foundational programming syntax in Python, including variables and data structures
Lesson 3: Iterations
- Implement iterative constructs in conjunction with conditions to perform repeatable tasks
- Extract insights from datasets using a combination of iterations and conditions
Lesson 4: Iterations with Nested Data Structure
- Apply iterations to more complex problems to sieve insights from larger 2D datasets
- Learn how to perform iterations with list comprehension
Lesson 5: Functions & APIs
- Learn to write reusable code and leverage on code pre-built into python packages
- Ingest CSV data programmatically and parse it into python data structures
Lesson 6: Data Cleaning, Transformation, Manipulation & Visualisation
- Learn about the stages of the data science project lifecycle, from data cleaning to exploratory data analysis (EDA)
- Implement the data cleaning and EDA stages of the lifecycle with hands-on exercises for a real-world dataset
- Understand the considerations in selecting the appropriate graphical visualisation methods for various datasets

Here are the questions we receive most often:
I have zero programming experience. Is AI100 suitable for me?
AI100 was designed specifically for people with zero programming knowledge. You should have no problems catching up with the class as our materials are well-organised for after-class review. Our ourses are also taught by experienced instructors and supported by teaching assistants who provide in-class and after-class support.
A sizable majority of our past AI100 students had no programming background, and all of them not only managed to pass and are able to apply coding to build incredible visualisations such as this geospatial visualisation by the end of the course. Feel free to browse through some reviews given by past Heicoders students who have successfully graduated from our courses.
If I choose not to take AI100 and start with AI200, what are the prerequisites needed?
For AI200, Python proficiency is a must, as there will no longer be any focus on teaching syntax from AI200 onwards. We’ll be focusing heavily on Machine Learning concepts and more advanced data wrangling / visualisation techniques from AI200 on, so familiarity with Pandas and data visualisation techniques taught in AI100 are helpful for keeping up with class.
We would recommend that you proceed with AI200 if you have taken a Python course elsewhere and are comfortable working with Python. For students in this category, we would offer direct support to help you bridge the necessary requirements in preparation for AI200, in the form of learning materials and installation instructions to help get you set up and ready for the class.
Is there any form of certification upon completing the course?
Can I take both AI100 and AI200 concurrently?
For payment could I make a deposit first, and complete the payment closer to the course’s commencement date?
I am keen on your class but can’t make it for one session. Is there a makeup class?
Makeups On Case By Case Evaluation
We strongly advocate for full attendance among students, yet we recognize that severe unforeseen events may occur. We will grant such students a one-time accommodation to attend a makeup session or a live stream of the recorded class.
For Learners Intending To Use Subsidies
If you are planning on using any subsidies (e.g. UTAP, IBF, SkillsFuture Credits), do note that these subsidies require learners to have at least 75% class attendance before you are eligible for subsidies.
Any difference between Windows and macOS laptops for students? Is one preferred?
Both Windows and Mac operating systems are suitable options, as previous students have successfully used them without significant problems. Approximately two weeks prior to the commencement of the course, we will distribute a detailed installation manual that includes tailored guidelines for both Mac and Windows users. Additionally, we recommend that students consider utilising external monitors for a more comfortable learning experience.
Will students be provided recorded sessions to revise the weekly lectures?
Lesson Recordings Are Provided
You are welcome to use the lesson recordings and materials for reference whenever you need a review of a particular lesson. Our Heicoders curriculum team takes great pride in documenting the class content thoroughly, so feel free to go through the lesson materials at your own pace. You could always reach out to your Teaching Assistants as well if you have questions outside of class.
I just registered for the course and am a NTUC Union member. How do I apply for the UTAP subsidy?
The UTAP subsidy is disbursed by NTUC to eligible students on a reimbursement basis. After completing the course, Heicoders students can then apply on the NTUC website for reimbursement, and upon approval they would usually receive a direct deposit from NTUC to their bank accounts within two to three weeks. You may find more details on the eligibility requirements and claims process on this NTUC UTAP website. On Heicoders’ end, we provide a PDF step-by-step guide on how to submit the claim to all students at the end of the course.
