The Challenge: Cultivating a Culture of Digital Literacy and Innovation
Changi Airport Group, a world-class airport operator, is dedicated to continuous improvement and innovation. To maintain its leadership position, CAG encourages its employees to embrace new technologies and develop digital literacy skills. The challenge was to find a high-quality training program that could not only introduce their management to the world of Generative AI but also inspire them to champion its adoption across the organization.

Why Heicoders Academy: A Recommendation Built on First-Hand Experience
The journey began when a senior management member from CAG enrolled in Heicoders Academy's public GA100 (Generative AI for Automation and Productivity) course. The manager was highly impressed by the course's practical curriculum, the expertise of the instructors, and the hands-on learning experience. This positive first-hand experience led to a strong recommendation to bring Heicoders Academy's training to a wider audience within CAG.
The Solution: A Tailored Private Workshop for Management
Based on the strong internal recommendation, CAG engaged Heicoders Academy to conduct a private GA100 workshop specifically for their management team. The workshop was tailored to address the unique challenges and opportunities within the aviation industry. The curriculum focused on:
- Generative AI Basics and Prompt Engineering: Mastering the fundamentals of AI and crafting effective prompts to get desired outputs.
- Advanced Prompt Engineering Techniques: Developing sophisticated prompting strategies for complex business scenarios.
- Advanced Workflows & AI Agents: Building multi-step AI workflows to automate business processes.
- Building AI Agentic Workflows with n8n: Hands-on experience creating automated workflows using industry-standard tools.
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) for Business Data: Leveraging company data to enhance AI outputs with relevant, accurate information.
- Model Context Protocol (MCP) & Managing AI Risk: Understanding how to integrate AI responsibly while managing risks in a regulated industry.
The success of this private workshop has led to a plan to train more of CAG's staff, demonstrating the organization's commitment to upskilling its workforce.
Results: A Ripple Effect of Learning and Innovation
The initial engagement, sparked by a single employee's positive experience, has created a ripple effect of learning and innovation within Changi Airport Group. The management team is now better equipped to lead their teams in exploring and adopting Generative AI. The decision to expand the training to more staff members will further embed a culture of digital literacy and innovation across the organization, ensuring that CAG remains at the forefront of the aviation industry.
"The hands on use of n8n was really useful. It helped break down automation into something visual and easy to follow, almost like Lego on screen. Heicoders' learning flow is sequential, so you understand each layer step by step. By the end, everything comes together and makes sense."

Round 2: Scaling Impact with Tangible AI Projects
Following the success of the initial management workshop, Changi Airport Group engaged Heicoders Academy for a second round of the GA100 course, this time extending the training to a broader group of staff. The goal was to move beyond foundational literacy and empower employees to build functional, AI-driven solutions tailored to their specific operational needs.
The results of this second cohort were highly practical. Participants applied their new skills in Generative AI, prompt engineering, and workflow automation to develop functional dashboards and tools directly relevant to airport operations.
Some of the standout projects developed by the students included:
- ATVB Analytics Operations Dashboard: A comprehensive system health and diagnostics dashboard for the Anti-Terrorist Vehicle Barrier (ATVB) fleet. The tool tracks failure events, mean time to failure, and response times across multiple terminals, providing clear visualizations of monthly failure trends and category distributions to enable predictive maintenance.
- Hawker Route SG Discovery Tool: A transit-style food discovery application that filters Singapore hawker recommendations by district, budget, and dish type. The tool layers curated dish recommendations and review excerpts over official hawker centre location data, allowing users to jump straight to the stall zone on Google Maps.
- Genset Population Compliance Dashboard: A maintenance compliance overview tool designed to track SS535:2018 standards across 83 gensets spanning four terminals. The dashboard provides a clear compliance matrix, allowing operators to drill down into monthly, 3-monthly, 6-monthly, and annual maintenance records to ensure full operational readiness.
These projects demonstrate the immediate, tangible value of the GA100 curriculum. By equipping staff with the ability to build their own AI-powered workflows and analytics tools, CAG is actively transforming its operational efficiency from the ground up.

What's Next: Scaling AI Literacy Across the Organization
Changi Airport Group and Heicoders Academy are working together to roll out a broader training program for CAG staff. This will ensure that employees at all levels have the opportunity to develop the skills needed to thrive in a digital-first world.
