Bringing Applied, Agentic AI to a Life Sciences Organisation: Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory x Heicoders Academy

Heicoders Academy delivered a private, customised three-day run of GA100: Generative AI for Automation and Productivity for a cross-functional cohort of 11 participants from Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory (TLL) and the Temasek Life Sciences Accelerator (TLA), delivered in-person at TLL's premises in Singapore.

The Challenge: Turning AI Interest into Everyday Capability Across Science and Business Functions

As a research organisation at the forefront of life sciences in Singapore, TLL works across scientific research, corporate functions, and, through TLA, the building and support of life sciences ventures. Teams were already using tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, and leadership recognised that generative AI could save time and raise the quality of work across research, reporting, and day-to-day administration.

The gap was between using these tools occasionally and applying them with confidence and consistency. Staff needed to move beyond basic prompting towards structured techniques, AI agents, and automated workflows that could take on repetitive, multi-step work in a reliable way.

The audience was also unusually varied. The cohort spanned senior leadership, HR, finance, marketing and communications, project management, investment portfolio management, and staff with scientific backgrounds. An off-the-shelf course would not reflect this mix, nor the care needed when handling sensitive and proprietary research information. TLL needed a programme that was practical for every function in the room and grounded in responsible AI use.

Why Heicoders Academy: A Trusted Partner Across the Temasek Ecosystem

Several organisations across the Temasek ecosystem had already trained with Heicoders Academy, which gave TLL confidence in both the quality of the training and the team's ability to work with a mixed, non-technical audience. Heicoders worked closely with TLL's Corporate Development team from the initial proposal through to delivery, adapting the programme around the tools TLL already uses and delivering it on-site to minimise disruption to operations.

GA100 offered the depth TLL was looking for. Rather than a short awareness session, it is a full six-lesson, SSG-accredited and WSQ-accredited programme that progresses from prompt engineering to AI agents, automation, and retrieval-augmented generation, while remaining eligible for SkillsFuture funding support.

Heicoders Academy is Singapore's leading AI-First Skills Accelerator, with over 30,000 learners trained, 4,000+ five-star reviews, and 300+ corporate clients including Changi Airport Group, Marriott International, and Temasek Trust.

The Solution: A Private, Customised GA100 Run for TLL and TLA

Heicoders Academy delivered GA100 as a private run over three consecutive days, from 5 to 7 October 2026, for 11 participants from TLL and TLA. Sessions were held in person at TLL’s premises, in its auditorium and a dedicated classroom. The programme was tailored to TLL’s tool landscape: ChatGPT served as the common platform for core concepts and exercises, with the prompting techniques taught in a platform-agnostic way so participants could apply them equally across Claude and Gemini. Examples were contextualised for both research and corporate work, such as summarising literature, drafting internal reports, and streamlining administrative and procurement documentation. The curriculum progressed deliberately across five core areas:

  • Generative AI Basics and Prompt Engineering: How Large Language Models work, key AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini), advanced prompting techniques including chain-of-thought and few-shot prompting, and AI-powered media creation.
  • Advanced Workflows and AI Agents: Hands-on lab using Manus AI to build and deploy multi-step automated workflows across 9 real-world business scenarios, including email automation, data analysis, wide research, spreadsheet automation, and slide generation.
  • Agentic Workflow Automation with n8n: Building powerful automated pipelines by connecting multiple applications and services to automate common business processes such as data extraction and report generation.
  • RAG for Business Data: Learning how to combine AI with the organisation’s internal data to create reliable, factual knowledge bases and secure private AI systems.
  • MCP and Managing AI Risk: Applying frameworks for safe, compliant, and ethical AI use in an enterprise setting, culminating in a hands-on Capstone Project where participants applied their full suite of newly acquired skills.

Around the curriculum, Heicoders Academy provided end to end wraparound support, from enrolment and registration onto its Student eLearn portal, to handling the government funding administration on behalf of the organisation, coordinating venue logistics, and supporting eligible participants through the WSQ assessment component. This allowed the TLL and TLA team to focus entirely on the learning experience while the operational details were managed for them.

Results: A Cross-Functional Cohort Equipped to Apply AI in Their Own Work

All 11 participants completed the three-day programme, with senior leadership learning alongside colleagues from corporate, investment, communications, and scientific roles. Participants worked hands-on throughout, writing structured prompts, building multi-step workflows with AI agents, creating automations in n8n, and setting up knowledge bases using their own business context, rather than simply watching demonstrations.

Engagement was strong across the three days, and the mix of functions in the room allowed participants to see how the same techniques could be applied to very different kinds of work. The cohort left with a clear understanding of what AI can do, along with the practical skills and responsible-use frameworks needed to start applying it to their day-to-day tasks.

What's Next: Building on a Strong Foundation for AI Adoption

With a cross-functional group, including senior leadership, now trained in applied and agentic AI, TLL and TLA have a strong foundation for wider AI adoption across their research and corporate teams. Participants are well placed to identify use cases within their own functions and to champion responsible AI use among their colleagues.

Heicoders Academy looks forward to continuing to support TLL and TLA as they build on this foundation. Heicoders partners with research, regulated, and enterprise organisations across Singapore to turn AI interest into practical, responsible capability that delivers real value in day-to-day work.
