Q: Who is eligible for SSG subsidy?

Eligibility depends on age and residency status: Singapore Citizens aged 21–39 and Permanent Residents receive up to 50% subsidy, while Singapore Citizens aged 40 and above receive up to 70% subsidy. No membership is required — as long as you meet the criteria and enrol in an approved course, the subsidy applies automatically.

Q: What's the difference between SSG subsidy and SkillsFuture Credit?

SSG subsidy is a government subsidy applied directly to the course fee — you never receive the money yourself, you simply pay a reduced fee upfront. SkillsFuture Credit (SFC) is your personal credit balance (starting from $500) that can be used on top of the subsidised fee to further reduce out-of-pocket costs. A simple way to think about it: SSG reduces the course price first, then SkillsFuture Credit helps pay the remaining balance.

Q: Can I combine SSG subsidy with SkillsFuture Credit?

Yes — most learners combine both. For example: original course fee $2,616, SSG subsidy (70%) provides a $1,831 subsidy, nett fee after subsidy is $785, applying SkillsFuture Credit ($500 balance) leaves $285 remaining payable. Some learners may even reduce their payable amount to $0 if they have sufficient SkillsFuture Credit.

Q: Do I have to complete the course to keep the subsidy?

Yes. Learners are expected to meet attendance and assessment requirements. If you withdraw midway or fail to meet course requirements, you may be required to refund the subsidy.

What is the SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) course fee subsidy?

SSG provides a baseline course fee subsidy for all Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents aged 21 and above enrolled in SSG-supported courses. The subsidy is calculated on the course fee before GST and applied directly to your invoice, so you only pay the nett amount. No separate application or reimbursement is needed.
