IBF-STS Subsidies & Heicoders Scholarship: Unlocking Opportunities with Heicoders Academy
Overview
In an age of rapid digital transformation and evolving job market, staying ahead of the curve requires constant learning and upskilling. To facilitate this, the Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF), a national accreditation and certification agency for financial industry competency, offers an inclusive subsidy programme known as the IBF Standards Training Scheme (IBF-STS).
What is IBF-STS?
The IBF-STS subsidy programme was introduced by the IBF in a bid to encourage professionals in the financial industry to enhance their skills. To do so, the programme provides financial assistance for eligible candidates to pursue relevant training programmes such as courses, certifications, and workshops.
IBF-STS Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the IBF-STS, candidates must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents, and must be physically based in Singapore. In addition, individuals are also required to successfully complete the IBF-STS accredited course, including passing all necessary assessments and examinations. IBF-STS Accredited Courses at Heicoders Academy
With all that said, how and where do we start leveraging the IBF-STS subsidies? A good place to begin will be at Heicoders Academy, a leading provider of technology education. Heicoders Academy offers a range of courses that are eligible for IBF funding – and if not, supported by other available subsidies, which we will touch on shortly.
Presently, Heicoders Academy offers four IBF-STS accredited courses, namely:
1) AI100 Python Programming and Data Visualisation
2) AI200 Applied Machine Learning
3) DA100 Data Analytics with SQL and Tableau
4) SE100 Responsive Web Development
Eligible participants can enjoy up to 70% subsidy of course fees. Remaining course fees can be offset either partially or fully with SkillsFuture Credits (for Singaporeans above 25 years old), or UTAP subsidy for NTUC Union members.
SkillsFuture Credits
The SkillsFuture movement is a government initiative to promote and encourage a culture of lifelong learning. Afterall, 活到老学到老, right? (translation: one is never too old to learn). This enables all Singaporeans aged 25 to fund out-of-pocket course fees for skills-related courses using SkillsFuture Credits. UTAP Subsidy
The Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP) is a training benefit provided by NTUC to encourage members to upskill themselves by helping to defray training costs. NTUC Union members enjoy a 50% subsidy of unfunded course fees (i.e., balance course fee payable after applicable government subsidies), up to $250 each year when they sign up for courses supported under UTAP. NTUC Union members aged 40 and above are eligible for further UTAP funding support, up to $500 each year. Visit the UTAP website for more information on the application process.
Heicoders Scholarship for Non-IBF Accredited Courses
Heicoders Academy offers a range of courses that are supported by the aforementioned subsidies. At the time of this writing, all Heicoders courses are eligible for UTAP subsidies and SkillsFuture Credits.
Lastly, Heicoders Academy also offers a Heicoders Scholarship to ensure that courses remain affordable for students. The scholarship will cover minimally 40% of course fees for Non-IBF accredited courses such as AI300 Deploying Machine Learning Systems to the Cloud.
Additionally, the scholarship is available for non-subsidy qualifiers to receive up to 40% course fee support from our Inclusive Education fund.
