What is UTAP & How It Works?

UTAP is a reimbursement scheme that helps active NTUC Union Members upskill affordably. Claim back 50% on your course fees — and from 1 May 2026, on your AI tool subscriptions too.

Approved tools include ChatGPT, Claude, Canva, GitHub Copilot, Midjourney, and 16 more. Your UTAP benefit now covers two things: the course that builds your skills, and the tools you use every day to apply them.

How It Works

  1. 1

    Take a UTAP-Approved Course

    Complete any UTAP-approved course on NTUC’s website (including Heicoders GA100), meeting the attendance and assessment requirements.

  2. 2

    Subscribe to AI Tools

    New from 1 May 2026: subscribe to any of the 21 NTUC-approved AI tools between 1 May 2026 and 30 April 2028.

    Submit Your Claim

    Log in to the UTAP portal with Singpass and claim 50% back on your course fees and/or AI tool subscriptions, within your annual cap.

  4. 4

    Get Reimbursed

    NTUC processes your claim and reimburses directly to your bank account.

The AI tool subscription must begin between 1 May 2026 and 30 April 2028.
Subscriptions that started before 1 May 2026 are not eligible, even if they are still active.

The annual cap is shared across all UTAP-supported claims in the same calendar year, including course fees, assessments, and AI tool subscriptions (effective 1 May 2026).

Is UTAP an upfront discount?Collapse

No. UTAP is a reimbursement scheme. You pay your course fees first, complete the course, and then submit a claim to NTUC for reimbursement. The same applies to AI tool subscriptions; you subscribe and pay first, then claim back 50% within 6 months. Note that only courses specifically listed on NTUC's website are eligible for UTAP, not all courses from approved training providers automatically qualify.
