How to Check SkillsFuture Credit Balance (2026 Guide)

Posted on 02/10/2026 06:42 AM by Shaza Farid

You log in to MySkillsFuture, see a balance of $4,500, and start browsing courses. Then you find out only $500 of it can go towards the course you actually want.

It’s one of the most common SkillsFuture surprises, and it happens because your balance isn’t one pot of money. If you’re 40 or above, it’s two credits with different rules, shown as a single number.

This guide shows you how to check SkillsFuture Credit balance in five steps, how to read each credit tier on your dashboard, and how to tell which courses each tier covers before you enrol.

This guide is for general information and educational purposes only, not financial or legal advice. Subsidy schemes, rates, and eligibility rules are set by SWDA. They can change without notice, and what applies to you depends on your personal circumstances. Always confirm current eligibility and amounts directly at https://courses.myskillsfuture.gov.sg/ before making any enrolment or financial decision.

Key Takeaways
  • To check your balance, log in to https://courses.myskillsfuture.gov.sg/ with Singpass. Your balance appears in the drop-down menu under your name.
  • Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above have a $500 Base Tier credit. It does not expire and works on any course listed on MySkillsFuture.
  • Singapore Citizens aged 40 and above also have a $4,000 Mid-Career credit. It does not expire, but only works on selected course types.
  • If you’re 40 or above, your balance combines both credits. Check which tier a course accepts before you assume your full balance applies.
  • Neither credit tier has an expiry date.
  • Submit your SkillsFuture Credit claim online before your course start date.
  • SkillsFuture Credit is for Singapore Citizens only. PRs and foreigners are not eligible.

What SkillsFuture Credit Do You Actually Have?

SkillsFuture Credit comes in two tiers, and if you’re 40 or above, you likely hold both. Knowing which is which before you log in makes your dashboard much easier to read.

Base Tier: $500 for Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above

Every Singapore Citizen aged 25 and above receives a $500 opening credit. According to MySkillsFuture, it has no expiry date, works on any course listed on the MySkillsFuture portal, and can be used on top of existing course fee subsidies.

Mid-Career Tier: $4,000 for Singapore Citizens aged 40 and above

Singapore Citizens aged 40 and above receive an additional $4,000, and it does not expire. If you were 40 or older on 1 January 2024, you received it in May 2024. If you turn 40 after 2024, SupportGoWhere notes it is credited at the end of January in the year you turn 40.

If you were aged 40 to 60 at the end of 2020, you may also have a balance from the one-off Additional SkillsFuture Credit (Mid-Career Support). Any unused amount has been merged into your Mid-Career credit and no longer expires.

The catch is that the Mid-Career credit only works on selected course types. MySkillsFuture lists five categories:

  • Full qualifications from Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs), and shorter modules that stack to a full qualification
  • MOE-subsidised full qualifications from the University of the Arts Singapore and Arts Institutions
  • SkillsFuture Career Transition Programmes (SCTP)
  • Courses aligned to training requirements in Progressive Wage Model (PWM) sectors
  • Workplace Literacy and Numeracy courses

What you may see when you log in

The table below shows the credit you may hold based on your situation. Amounts are maximums, assuming you’ve never made a claim.

Your situation SkillsFuture Credit you may hold Expiry
Singapore Citizen under 25 None yet. The Base Tier applies from age 25. Not applicable
Singapore Citizen aged 25 to 39 Base Tier: up to $500 No expiry
Singapore Citizen aged 40 and above Base Tier: up to $500, plus Mid-Career: up to $4,000 No expiry

Depending on your age and past claims, your total could be anywhere from $0 to $5,000.

How to Check SkillsFuture Credit Balance in Five Steps

You check your balance by logging in to MySkillsFuture with Singpass. There’s no separate account or password to set up, and the whole process takes a few minutes on a laptop or phone.

Step 1: Go to the official MySkillsFuture portal

Type https://courses.myskillsfuture.gov.sg/ into your browser yourself, or use a saved bookmark. Singapore government agencies communicate through .gov.sg websites, so be wary of any SkillsFuture link that doesn’t end in .gov.sg. Messages about “expiring credits” are a common hook for phishing, so treat unexpected links with caution.

Step 2: Click “Log In”

You’ll find it at the top-right corner of the page.

Step 3: Log in with Singpass

Scan the QR code with your Singpass app, or use your Singpass ID with two-factor authentication. If your Singpass app isn’t set up on your current phone, sort that out first. This is where most people get stuck, not the SkillsFuture part.

Step 4: Open the drop-down menu under your name

Once logged in, click your name at the top right. Your SkillsFuture Credit balance is shown in this drop-down menu. Select it to open your credit dashboard.

Step 5: Check the breakdown and transaction history

On your dashboard, look at the balance for each credit type, then open your transaction history. You’ll see past claims with course titles, dates, and amounts deducted. If a number looks off, this is where you’ll find out why.

How to Read Your SkillsFuture Credit Dashboard

Your balance is not one pot of money. Each credit tier has its own rules, and reading them separately saves you from surprises at enrolment.

If you’re under 40, you’ll typically see just your Base Tier balance, which works on any course listed on MySkillsFuture.

If you’re 40 or above, you’ll see two balances. Your Mid-Career credit is the larger sum, but it only applies to the five course categories above.

This is where the $4,500 surprise comes from. Many short courses for working professionals fall outside those categories, so only your $500 Base Tier credit applies to them. Before you enrol, check the funding details on the course listing to see which tier it accepts.

If your balance is zero or lower than expected, check your transaction history first. The usual reason is a past claim you’ve forgotten.

Does SkillsFuture Credit Expire in 2026?

No. As of September 2026, neither the Base Tier credit nor the Mid-Career credit has an expiry date. You can use either whenever you find a course that fits.

For employers: the SFEC deadline is different

If you’re an employer or HR manager, the date to note is 30 November 2026. According to SkillsFuture for Business on GoBusiness, unused credits under the current SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit (SFEC) expire on that date. For training to count, the last day of training must fall on or before 30 November 2026, subject to SWDA’s approval.

If you’re planning SFEC-supported training with Heicoders Academy, the effective date is earlier: training needs to be completed on or before 30 October 2026, because we build in an extra month for assessment.

From 1 December 2026, a redesigned SFEC takes over, and eligible employers receive a fresh $10,000 tranche.

Who runs SkillsFuture now?

On 1 July 2026, SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and Workforce Singapore merged to form the Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA). SkillsFuture Credit continues, and you still check and claim it through MySkillsFuture, so the steps above don’t change. You’ll simply see SWDA named on newer official pages.

What to Do After You Check Your Balance

Checking your balance is the first step. Putting it to good use takes three more.

  1. Match the course to the right credit tier. Search for courses on MySkillsFuture and check the funding section of each listing to see which tier it accepts. MySkillsFuture also notes that SkillsFuture Credit can be used for selected online learning subscriptions, such as Coursera and Udemy.
  2. Work out your out-of-pocket cost. SkillsFuture Credit is applied on top of course fee subsidies, so it offsets the nett fee after any subsidy you’re eligible for. Subsidy eligibility depends on your age, citizenship, and the course, so check each listing.
  3. Submit your claim before the course starts. Claims are made online through MySkillsFuture and must be submitted before the course start date.

If you’re thinking about a course in early 2027, checking now gives you time to compare options calmly and submit your claim well ahead of the start date. The Base Tier credit has been around since 2016. If you’re still holding the full $500, that’s a decade of learning budget waiting to be used.

Using Your SkillsFuture Credit on a Heicoders Course

If you’re weighing up an AI or tech course, here’s how SkillsFuture Credit works with Heicoders Academy’s programmes.

  • Heicoders courses listed on MySkillsFuture, including the Generative AI Course (GA100), accept the SkillsFuture Credit (Base Tier), subject to eligibility.
  • Heicoders courses are not among the course types covered by the Mid-Career Tier, so the $4,000 Mid-Career credit cannot be used for them.
  • Course fee subsidies may apply before your credit is used, subject to eligibility. See Heicoders Academy’s SkillsFuture subsidy guide for the current breakdown by age and citizenship.

SFEC is administered by Enterprise Singapore and the Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA), and is subject to company-level eligibility, prevailing scheme conditions, and the SFEC-supportable programme list, none of which are guaranteed. The current SFEC expires 30 November 2026; for Heicoders Academy cohorts specifically, this means training must be completed on or before 30 October 2026 to fall within the current scheme, due to the additional month Heicoders builds in for assessment. A redesigned scheme begins 1 December 2026 with different rules. All information on this page is correct as on September 2026 and is subject to change. Terms and conditions apply.
